EnergyLab's Townsville Entrepreneur Workshop will help clean energy and biofutures entrepreneurs refine their business idea and map a path to launching their company.
What the Entrepreneur Workshop involves
This workshop will help you refine your clean energy or biofutures business idea, test your biggest assumptions, communicate your idea to others and get ready to launch your startup.
Get to know your customer
Why do your customers need you? Define who your customer is and the problem you are solving for them.
Refine your business model
Design and refine the building blocks of your idea. Improve the focus and clarity of what your business is trying to achieve using our business model canvas.

Communicate your idea to others
Communication matters! Build a pitch deck and hone your ability to communicate your idea to others.

How to apply
Applying is quick and easy
The first step is to fill out a short online application form. Applications close at 5 pm Wednesday 6 November 2019.
If we think you're a good fit for the workshop we'll invite you to a short interview to get to know you better. The interview will be held via video conference so you can conduct it anywhere with a decent internet connection. Interviews will be held Tuesday 19 November 2019.
Receive an offer
If you make it into the top five applicants we'll offer you a spot in the workshop. Offers will be made shortly after the interviews and the workshop will be held on Wednesday December 4 2019.
Here are some of the questions we're commonly asked. If there is anything else you would like to know please email [email protected].
Where is the workshop located?
This one-off workshop is only available in Townsville. Sign up to our mailing list to find out about programs in other cities.
Can I participate remotely?
We require in-person attendance at this full-day workshop.
How much does it cost?
Nothing! The program is completely free.
I'm working on <insert technology>, can I apply?
Possibly! We take a very broad view of clean energy and include any technology that is required in a world powered by 100% renewable sources. Please send us an email and we'll tell you for sure.
Do I need a co-founder to apply?
No. If you have team members or co-founders then that's a bonus but we encourage solo-founders to apply too.
How many spots are there in the workshop?
About 5 startup ideas will take part in the workshop. We keep the workshop small so we can provide personalised attention to each participant. Exact numbers will depend on how many members in each startup.
Do I need to register a company to participate?
Nope. If you have already registered a company that's perfectly fine but we would recommend only doing so after validating your ideas, which is what this workshop will help you do.
